If you're having a christening or baptism, your child will probably need to be dressed in fairly formal attire. Your church should be able to give you more information about what they specifically expect of you. Often, a traditional christening gown or christening dress is worn. This may apply to both girls and boys, depending on the church, the infant's age and your own personal preference. There is a growing trend toward dressing baby boys in christening rompers, suits or baby tuxedos for the event, rather than traditional gowns. You should also think about socks, christening shoes, a christening bonnet, cap or other hair accessories. Many parents also like to have a special christening bib handy, to protect the christening gown or other special garment.
