Be inspired
We have recently launched a section on our website where you can find articles containing hints, tips and other useful information relating to all sorts of special occasions. We hope you find these resources inspiring, when planning your next special event. I thought I’d give you a taste of one article in particular today… Our Orthodox Christening Checklist.
There are so many important items required for an Orthodox Christening and our Orthodox Christening Checklist may assist you in the planning of your child’s special day. At Very Special Celebrations, we specialise in Greek christenings so this checklist is particularly designed with Greek christenings in mind, but we can assist customers from other Orthodox backgrounds too!
The article covers ‘things to do’ such as…
- Choosing the ceremony location – which church?
- Selecting the godparent.
- Working on your guest list and sending invitations
- Organising Bomboniere – the godparent traditionally organises these, along with all the other important items for the church ceremony.
And more…
The article includes a comprehensive list of all the items needed for the ceremony including the christening gown or suit, bottle of olive oil, towels and sheets, decorated candle (lambatha), soap and so on.

Royal Wedding Inspiration
I’m excited! Since enjoying the spectacle that was ‘The Royal Wedding’ about a month ago, I’ve been chatting with one of the lovely dressmakers who creates some of our stunning christening gowns and flower girl dresses for us. She is thinking of working on her own version of the royal flower girl dresses (or in the case of Will and Kate’s wedding, the bridesmaid dresses, as they were referred to).
The little girls who formed part of the bridal procession on the big day, wore the same fabric as the the bride’s gown. Full, box pleated skirts in satin and gorgeous silk sashes had the girls looking adorable as they proudly entered Westminster Abbey.
Our supplier is going to have a play around with her collection of fabrics and laces, to see if she can come up with a design that is somewhat reminiscent of the girls’ dresses from the royal wedding, but the design will of course have its own unique special touches! I can’t wait to see the results!
We already have a ‘Prince William Christening Suit’ in our range, so it seems our little collection of ‘royal’ garments is growing by the minute! Lovely!
